President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria and President Xi Jinping of China on Tuesday 3rd September, 2024 in China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries to further strengthen cooperation in economic, scientific and technical areas.
Parties to the MoU are Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) and the National Energy Administration of the People’s Republic of China and is expected to cover:
1. Basic research in the field of peaceful nuclear energy
2. Design, construction,operation, upgrade, maintenance and decommissioning of nuclear power plant
3. Training of human resources.
Other government dignitaries present at the signing were, Minister of Finance, Adebayo Olawole Edun, Engr. David Umahi, Honourable Minister of Works and Chm/CEO, NAEC, Prof. Yusuf A. Ahmed.
