Association of Radiographers of Nigeria Visits NAEC

The Association of Radiographers of Nigeria led by its President Dr. Musa Y. Dambele on Wednesday, 12th July paid a courtesy visit to the Commission. The delegation which was recieved by  Chairman NAEC,Prof. Yusuf.A. Ahmed was at the Commission to discuss issues related to the use of radiation healthcare in the areas of radiation safety, quality control and manpower training.

In his remarks, the Chm. lamented on the lack of  trained personnel in the maintenance and operation of highly sensitive equipment in the industry across the country as well as the gap between radio diagnosis and radiotherapy. He therefore urged the Association to liaise with NAEC to  develop modalities for training programmes provided by the IAEA for its members.

Responding, the Association’s President ,Dr. Musa Y. Dambele  said lack of synergy between policy makers and professional in the industry was hampering the  smooth dispensation of nuclear medicine in the country. He therefore pleaded with the Chm to create a communication platform for dialogue between the two bodies, this he said will go a long way towards providing improved radiation  health care services across the country.
