Ag. Chairman NAEC Visits Senate Committee on Atomic and Nuclear Energy

The Ag. Chairman, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, Engr Anthony Ekedegwa on Thursday, 31st October, led a delegation from NAEC to the National Assembly for talks with the Senate Committee on Atomic and Nuclear Energy.
In his brief to the Committee Chair, Senator Sahabi Alhaji Yau, the Ag. Chairman sought for the cooperation of the Committee towards the implementation of the nuclear energy programme. He informed the Committee that paramount on his agenda is the urgent need to resuscitate and commercialize the Gamma Irradiation Facility at the Nuclear Technology Center (NTC), in Sheda. This the Ag. Chairman said could be done through increased budgetary allocation to the Commission in the coming year. He also solicited for the intervention of the Senate Committee on the speedy passage of the NAEC Bill currently with the National Assembly and made a strong plea to the Committee to help facilitate the resolution of the High Risk Allowance for the Centers under NAEC.
In his response, Senator Yau, promised to look into the request of the Ag. Chairman and informed the NAEC delegation that it will soon embark on oversight duties to all the Centers under the Commission.
