The Chairman/CEO of NAEC Professor Ahmed Yusuf today 24th October, 2022  declared open the Technical Meeting on  Business Development Plan  for the Multipurpose Research Reactor (MPRR) at RHCC, NTC Sheda.

The Chairman was represented by the Director NTC, Dr Hamman Tukur Gabdo. Participants from various agencies who constitute the stakeholders of NAEC were charged by Dr.Gabdo to deliberate as experienced experts and come up with a workable bussiness plan for the Multipurpose Research Reactor project.

In a similar development, the convener and Co-convener of the Technical Meeting and  Director Nuclear Research and Insfrastructure Development(RNID) Professor Suleiman Arabi and Deputy Director RNID Engineer Justin Salu respectively presented a summary of the objectives and expectations for the 3 DAY Technical meeting.

Goodwill messages were also given by the Director MTCD-NAEC Dr Ebisomu Agedah, Dr Abdullahi Evuti from University of Abuja and Dr Akpanowo Nbet from NNRA.

A Multipurpose Research Reactor is used to produce radioisotopes for medicine and irradiate materials for the development of fission and fusion reactors, among other applications. These particles are primarily used in areas such as industry, medicine, agriculture, forensics, biology, chemistry and geochronology and educational research. 

They are small in comparison with power reactors whose primary function is to produce electricity. 

The meeting is expected to continue till  Wednesday 26th October, 2022.
