The International Atomic Energy Agency and the Nigeria Nuclear Regulatory Authority is hosting international participants for the Regional Training Course on School of Radiation Emergency Management TN-RAF9070-2406541 in Abuja from June 23rd,2025 to July 3rd,2025 in Abuja. As part of the training program,Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission has organized a technical visit of the Gamma Irradiation Facility (GIF) in nuclear technology centre (NTC), Sheda, for the international participants today, July 2nd,2025.

The Deputy Director/Head GIF Engineer TK Mustapha who stood in for the Ag.Chairman/CEO, Engineer Dr. Anthony Ekedegwa, received the participants at the GIF conference room. A brief overview of the the Commission was presented.
Similarly,as part of the practical aspect of the
technical visit,an emergency drill was organized for the participants alongside staff of the GIF.

The regional training course seeks to support participants in the development and measurement of sustainable Emergency Preparedness and Response(EPR) based on the IAEA Safety Standards, Technical Guidelines, EPR training tools and training materials.

A total of forty participants from thirty (30) African countries including Nigeria are participating in the training program.
