NAEC in its bid to actualise Nigeria’s quest to deploy nuclear technology in the areas of food & agriculture, power generation, human health, water resources management and environment, has been putting in place the human resources infrastructure to develop pipelines for generating a pool of indigenous nuclear professionals to enhance technology localization/domestication for national development.
In this regard, NAEC has been exploring collaborations with national and international partners to ensure that the competent workforce is available for the safe, secure and sustainable implementation of the nuclear energy programme.
A total of 77 staff members have graduated through the implementation of these collaborations (both national and international). Currently over 18 staff members undergoing Masters and PhD programmes in Russia, China, and South Korea.
Furthermore, NAEC has facilitated IAEA assistance in the training of staff of many relevant national organizations from various sectors such as Health, Water Resources, Agriculture, Security, Emergency Management and Power, including senior university academics in enhancing their competencies through both onshore and offshore trainings, fellowships, internships, conferences and workshops as well as the acquisition, utilization and maintenance of requisite nuclear technology equipment and facilities.
