NAEC, NGA-NEST & UNIVERSITY of ABUJA promotes Nuclear science and technology for secondary schools in the North central Region

The future of nuclear science and technology in Nigeria is with the young generation especially at secondary school level. This was contained in a welcome remark by the chairman/CEO NAEC at the one day Educational Outreach program for secondary schools in the North Central Region of Nigeria held at the faculty of Engineering lecture theatre of the university of Abuja. 

Speaking in his capacity as the special guest of honour, the Vice Chancellor University of Abuja Professor Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah  represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi advised the students to take Science, Technology and Mathematics(STEM) seriously for Nigeria to sustain the future of Nuclear science and technology in Nigeria likewise build a large manpower base in the nuclear industry. In a similar development, the coordinator of the program and head Manpower training and capacity development NAEC, Mr Joseph Ezekiel gave an overview and the objective of the outreach program Nigeria. Goodwill messages were presented by the Directors of NTC, NPPD, NARD, PDSL of NAEC. Similar messages was also delivered by the Dean faculty of Engineering University of Abuja Professor Ibrahim Mohammed and the representative of Nigeria network of Nuclear science Education in Science and Technology(NGA-NEST) professor Mohammed Evuti of the university of Abuja stood in for Professor Ayo Kuye.

The four papers  were presented at the outreach on Nuclear Science and technology applications, Education Requirements for NuclearSpecialist and career Opportunities. The outreach had twenty-eight schools represented with the theme “Promoting Science and Engineering as a Career”.
