NAEC Chairman Participates at the 37th AFRA Technical Working Group Meeting in Rabat , Morocco

The Acting Chairman/CEO of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), Engr. Dr.Anthony Ekedegwa, is participating in the African Regional Cooperative Agreement for Research, Development and Training Related to Nuclear Science and Technology (AFRA) Technical Working Group Meeting currently taking place in Rabat, Morocco.

The meeting, which commenced on Monday, 15 June 2026, is being hosted by the National Center for Energy, Nuclear Science and Technology (CNESTEN) and will conclude on Friday, 19 June 2026.

The Technical Working Group is focused on reviewing the AFRA Regional Cooperative Framework and assessing progress in the application of nuclear science and technology across key sectors, including food security, healthcare, agriculture, nuclear and radiation safety, knowledge management, and education.

The gathering brings together experts and representatives from AFRA Member States to strengthen regional cooperation and chart a common path for the peaceful utilization of nuclear science and technology in Africa.

AFRA Member States work closely with the International Atomic Energy Agency under its Technical Cooperation Programme to advance the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology for sustainable socio-economic development across the continent.
