NAEC Chairman Pays Working Visit to the Honourable Minister of Power

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), Engr. Dr. Anthony Ekedegwa, on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Power, Mr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, in Abuja.

The visit was aimed at briefing the Honourable Minister on the progress of the Nigeria Nuclear Power Programme (NNPP), presenting the roadmap for the next phase of its implementation, and strengthening inter-agency collaboration towards the successful delivery of the programme.

In his opening remarks, Engr. Dr. Ekedegwa emphasized that the successful implementation of Nigeria’s Nuclear Power Programme is a national undertaking that requires the active participation, cooperation, and sustained commitment of all relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The Chairman further requested the Ministry’s support in providing access to relevant technical, scientific, environmental, socio-economic, infrastructure, geospatial, regulatory, and other critical data within its mandate. He explained that the information would support the ongoing review of the Nuclear Site Evaluation Report and preparations for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review (INIR) Mission scheduled for 2027.

In his response, the Honourable Minister welcomed the delegation and commended NAEC for its efforts in advancing Nigeria’s Nuclear Power Programme. He assured the Commission of the Ministry’s full cooperation and commitment to providing the requested information and technical support.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to work closely with NAEC to ensure the successful implementation of the nation’s nuclear power aspirations.
