NAEC Participates in the 3rd Brachytherapy Summit Organized by LUTH and Mediserve
The Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) was honored to participate in the 3rd Brachytherapy Summit, held from May 27 to 28, 2025, at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos. The Summit was organized by the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in collaboration with Mediserve.
The Acting Chairman/CEO of NAEC, Engr. Anthony Ekedegwa, served as the Special Guest of Honour at the event. He was ably represented by Engr. Justine K. Salu, Director of Research and Nuclear Infrastructure Development, and Engr. Awwal Bisallah, Deputy Director of International Cooperation and Liaison (ICL), both of NAEC.
In addition to delivering goodwill messages, NAEC also engaged in strategic discussions with LUTH officials on the sidelines of the event. These discussions focused on potential collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to establish a Regional Designated Centre at LUTH for IAEA trainings and programmes.
A major highlight of the Summit was the presentation of a special award to the Acting Chairman/CEO of NAEC, in recognition of the IAEA’s longstanding Technical Cooperation with LUTH, an initiative coordinated through NAEC.
NAEC remains committed to advancing nuclear science and technology for peaceful purposes and strengthening partnerships that enhance healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
