The National Universities Commission (NUC) has conducted a crucial verification visit to the Nuclear Technology Center of the Nigerian Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) in Sheda, Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory. The working visit marks a significant step forward in the accreditation process for a proposed Bachelor of Engineering degree in Nuclear Engineering.

The degree program is planned for Yakubu Gowon University, the institution formerly known as the University of Abuja. The NUC’s on‑site assessment at the NAEC facility is expected to verify that the center meets the required academic and infrastructure standards necessary to support the new engineering degree.
