Scientific Forum: Rays of Hope (Cancer Care for All): 

Experts from across the globe are converging at the 66th IAEA General Conference to brainstorm on how best to  deploy nuclear science and technology in  strengthening  the quality, safety and sustainability of Cancer Care as well as focus on ways of enhancing innovation, research and boosting partnership and networks in the management of cancer treatment.

The meeting is an initiative of the IAEA’s “Rays of Hope” project launched in February 2022 to mark the  year’s World Cancer Day.

The Rays of Hope project supports establishment of expansion of diagnostic and treatment services with particular focus on more than 20 IAEA Member States that lack facility for radiation treatment.

Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide which

 impacts families, health systems and economies.

Nigeria’s delegation to the forum include; Dr. Emmanuel Ehanire, Hon. Min of Health, represented by Dr. Adebimpe Olugbemi( Director, Hospital Services, MoH), Mrs Fatima Ige, Deputy General Manager(Medical. NNRA), Dr. Okpuko Okpiki , Coordinator, National Cancer Control Programme, Dr. Taofeeq Ige, Consultant Medical Physics, University of Abuja and Engr. Awwal Bissalla Head, International Cooperation Liaison, NAEC.
