Department Nuclear Medicine, University College Hospital (UCH),Seeks Cooperation with NAEC.

The Chairman/CEO, NAEC, Prof. Yusuf Ahmed on Thursday, 15th September 2022 received a delegation from the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

The delegation was led by Dr. K.S. Adedapo, HOD, Nuclear Medicine and Dr.Yetunde Onimode, Consultant Nuclear Physician.

The purpose of the visit according to Dr. Adedapo was to seek and explore ways to improve service delivery in nuclear medicine. Discussion also centered on procurement of equipment and human capacity development.

In identifying and prioritising issues in nuclear medicine in Nigeria, the Chairman said there is need to reintegrate the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the UCH back into the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programs in the country.

Consequently, the Chm directed Engr. Awwal Bisalla,Head, International Cooperation and Liaison(ICL), NAEC to as a matter of urgency resuscitate the two committees on Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy to come with recommendations on how to chart a new course for  nuclear medicine in Nigeria as well as create a platform for interaction with stakeholders.
