US Department of Energy, NNRA visit NTC sheda

A team of inspectors from the United States Department of Energy (US-DOE) and the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) today, Monday 10th June, 2024 were at NTC Sheda on routine inspection and to continually emplace the best regulatory control regime for all activities involving ionizing radiation, nuclear energy and it’s various application. The visit was led by Mr. Mac-Eteli Humphrey from the NNRA.

The Director NTC, Dr Tukur Hamman Gabdo welcomed the team to NTC and the place of their primary assignment, the GIF.
Similarly, the Deputy Director GIF, Engineer TK Mustapha presented an overview of physical protection systems of the GIF and brought the team up to speed with activities at the GIF. As part of his presentation, DD/Head GIF solicited for the cooperation of the US-DOE in the area of upgrade for the physical and security systems of the GIF as well as training for the staff of the facility.

The NNRA team leader, Mr. Mac-Eteli Humphrey and his colleague made some professional observations and advised the GIF to address them after a comprehensive facility tour of the GIF and its environs and also made some recommendations for compliance.
